10 Reasons you should not use Supawood

  • Your application is a small quantity.
Supawood make every project to order. This means there are significant set-up costs. If your project needs less than 30m2 of feature linings, you will certainly be better off requesting your joiner for supply and install as part of their package.
  • Price is your only consideration.
If price is number one for you, then Supawood is not the source for you as there will always be commodity solutions that achieve your performance requirements at a lower cost, for example perforated plasterboard. If visual impact AND performance are both more important than the upfront investment, then Supawood may be your solution.
  • Your application is a single residential application.
If your enquiry is for your house (or your garage or workshop), you’d be best to discuss your needs with your builder or joiner or, if you are doing the renovation yourself, to source a product from a hardware store.
  • You are looking for raw panels, boards, timber battens or slats.
Supawood specialise in high quality prefinished complete systems. If you’re happy with an on-site finish or you are just looking for a pack of boards, your best source for the raw panels is a timber products distributor or a hardware store.
In the same way, if you’re after timber slats or battens to cut and fix and finish on site, you’d be best to contact a timber merchant or hardware store.
  • Your project is located outside of Australia, New Zealand or the UK.
Supawood’s competitive edge is our ability to make products customised to the space into which they will be installed with a short lead-time from when you finalise details. The freight time to markets outside Australia, New Zealand and the UK negates this advantage. If you are elsewhere your best option will be a local partner if there is one.
  • You are price shopping.
If you’re shopping around, looking for a cheaper price than your current supplier on a known and available product, then don’t contact Supawood. You pay more for quality and service so we will never be cheaper than a competitor’s product.
  • You are needing a free-standing structure or primarily structural item.
Supawood’s products are designed as linings systems that are fixed to an underlying wall or ceiling framing. If you’re looking for something primarily structural then we’re probably not where you should be looking.
  • Your application is integrated into the joinery.
If you are looking for cabinets, or a feature that is directly integrated into your joinery then you’d be best including it in your joinery contract. Supawood can coordinate materials with joiners to ensure that feature ceilings or walls match with any joinery on the project.
  • You need flooring.
Supawood do not supply any products suitable for use on floors or as flooring.
  • You are quite happy for this project to be just like the others.
If you aren’t looking for anything unique about this project, then you are best to source a stocked commodity product as Supawood’s ability to turn dreams into reality will not be of any value to you.

When should you contact Supawood?

If you have a project of a commercial nature with 50m2 or more where you have some budget to create an impact AND

  • You need the materials to be compliant to the BCA, including to clause C1.10, OR
  • You need the completed prefinished system on-site quicker than your current supplier can get it there, OR
  • You have a concept and have not yet identified what product or system to use to turn it into reality.
  • You have a concept and solution but its over budget and need help to value manage it while retaining the essence of the design.
