The brief for the designers, Allen Jack & Cottier Architects, was to create a simple building that was sympathetic to its park setting and would provide a versatile activities space as part of an existing recreation precinct.

The designers recognised the need for specialty linings to address noise and high impact problems. They asked SUPAWOOD to assist at the design stage with developing the specifications suitable for the project’s requirements.

The 3000m² facility contains a large multi-purpose hall which potentially posed noise reverberation problems, but the wall lining also needed to withstand high impact activities. To blend the interior with the park setting outside a timber finish was warranted.

A combination of matching SUPACOUSTIC slotted acoustic and SUPALINE solid panels in SUPAFINISH Fusion Maple concept veneer were chosen. By using SUPAFINISH the warmth of timber could be achieved and the walls would be impact resistant and easy to maintain. This option also ensured panels had zero VOC emissions and could meet strict BCA fire hazard regulations.

Supawood also supplied loose SUPAFINISH Hoop Pine slats for the ceiling over and the front of the reception desk.

Many custom cut to size panels were required in this project for which SUPAWOOD tailor their standard products to accommodate doors, windows and other wall permutations. SUPAWOOD were also able to supply in multiple batches to ensure that the project was completed successfully on time and on budget.
