Dynamic wall and ceiling featuring SUPAWOOD Binary and Bubbles patterns

Waterfront Rooms, Darwin Convention Centre, Darwin City NT

A dynamic combination of our acoustic patterns has been applied to create a stunning wall and ceiling feature in the refurbishment of the Darwin Convention Centre, Darwin City NT.

The brief was to renovate The Waterfront Rooms, an open area of approximately 450m2 floor area that can be divided into 3 spaces as required. Specialized architectural finishes meeting BCA regulations were required that could be supplied to tight lead times and installed quickly whilst working within an operational venue.

SUPACOUSTIC pre-finished acoustic panels were chosen as our Binary micro perforated pattern met the look and performance the designers wanted for the wall feature. However, this pattern was a little small to flow up into the feature across the ceiling, so they decided to use SUPAWOOD’s Bubble pattern for this. The two patterns work beautifully together and have been perfectly matched in a finish of SUPAFINISH Tasmanian Oak laminate.

The feature panels have been cleverly set on a return on both the wall and ceiling. This provided allowance for lighting integration and hidden access hatches in the ceiling. Matching smooth SUPALINE pre-curved panels have been used on the returns.

Reflecting the waterfront proximity of the venue, this feature curves up the walls at either end of the space and winds like a river across the ceiling. All the panels where supply pre-finished and shaped as needed ready to install. SUPAWOOD also provided shop drawings to make installation quick and efficient.
